Michael J. Barker earned his graduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Detroit where he specialized in rubber toughening of thermoplastics. He continued with post-graduate study at the University of Washington in the area of carbon fiber composite technology and protective surface coatings. With over three decades experience working in project management for General Motors Research, BFGoodrich Research, and Ashland LLC, he is a subject matter expert in protective surface coatings, sealants, and adhesives. He has been with Ashland LLC for 20 years where he is currently a Research Fellow managing their Structural Adhesive group.
